Turnkey Packaging Lines supplied by Berks Plant Design and Maintenance, Inc.

Berks Plant Design and Maintenance's supply of Turnkey Complete Packaging Lines often times includes reconditioning or rebuilding of specific machines or all machinery composing a Complete Packaging Line, and configuring the Complete Packaging Line for the customer's requirements. Often times Turnkey Complete Packaging Lines are also supplied with additional automation and integration devices, or programming to support integration devices to be installed in the field. Turnkey supply of a Complete Packaging Line would follow a specific scope of work, and each piece of equipment would be shipped to the customer as per the scope of work. Sometimes some pieces of machinery may ship direct to the customer to be customized in the field either by the OEM or by Berks Plant Design and Maintenance. This occurs normally where freight costs are prohibitive, and/or when tooling changes are the only requirement to make the piece of machinery fully operational. The equipment composing the Packaging Line that is configured for the customers needs, perhaps reconditioned or rebuilt as well (depending on the scope of work), is delivered after internal testing in house as well as a Factory acceptance testing process. Each piece of equipment is supplied with a warranty that is dependent on the scope of work. The turnkey Packaging Line composed of as-is, reconditioned, and/or rebuilt machinery is ultimately shipped to be installed and integrated, then would be commissioned on-site. This may be performed either by customer's staff, a local resource, or by Berks Plant Design and Maintenance staff -or a combination of these contractors.

BPDM will work on an individual basis with customers to find the ideal turnkey solution for each project. Turnkey Packaging Lines originating from used packaging and processing machinery are achieved not just through the reconditioning or rebuilding stages of a given project, but also demand proper replacement parts during these processes, as well as package specific components such as change parts, package handling parts, and upgrades to the existing automation. This is achieved via collaboration with the customer with regard to consultation, the application(s) and scope of work, integration techniques, as well as strong collaboration with strategic partners in terms of manufacture of engineered components that require specific production techniques.

Berks Plant Design & Maintenance, Inc. also manufactures many different custom or heavily customized pieces of packaging and processing equipment where existing used packaging and processing machinery, either reconditioned or rebuilt, cannot be configured for a given application utilizing existing methods of operation. This includes mechanical and automation customization designated during the customer's application and supplied scope of work.

In this way, our relationship with our customers does not end at the completion and delivery of these Turnkey Packaging Lines. We will require bulk samples of application specific materials, in order to set up and test each machine composing the Complete Packaging Line in our plant. This allows our production team and our technicians to ensure that the entire system works efficiently, consistently, and reliably before shipping the machinery to its final destination. Berks Plant Design and Maintenance's supply factory acceptance testing on not only Turnkey Machinery, but also for any piece of used machinery composing a Turnkey Packaging Line that has been quoted to a customer in a scenario where a Complete Packaging Line is to be supplied running customer's application. The shipping of the equipment does not always indicate the end of the relationship either. Berks Plant Design and Maintenance's technicians will often times travel to the customer's plant to install, test and train production employees on the equipment. It is through all of these steps that the "ready to use" portion of the turnkey solution is achieved. It is normally cost efficient to establish a collaboration of Berks Plant Design Installers, local resources, and Maintenance staff at customers Plant.

Depending on the scope of work of a given project (e.g. Used, Reconditioned, Rebuilt, and/or configured for customers application) a full warranty is supplied for the Complete Packaging Lines supplied to our customers. After testing, installing, commissioning and training, BPDM maintains a catalog for every specific project including any parts manufactured, PLC, HMI, and drive programs to maintain the ability to support later troubleshooting, parts replacements, upgrading or other assistance.

It is our belief that the only true way to provide a complete, successful Turnkey Packaging Line project is to make our knowledge and experience available to the Packaging company that we partner with during the manufacturing process and after the equipment is in place and running. If you have a packaging or processing project that you would like to discuss to obtain requirements and scope of work for a given project, we encourage you to contact us with any information that you can supply at this time.
