HOW IT WORKS
Products feed into the head conveyor of Used Drop Case Packers, at which time bottles are separated into lanes to match the pattern of the case. Round products are crowd fed into these lanes, while non-round products require a laner that automatically single files containers into each infeed lane. Once the products are dispersed evenly across the lanes and enough containers are present in each lane, a drop sequence is initiated. Simultaneously on a case indexing system below the head conveyor feeds cases automatically to the position where they are to be packed with bottles. Once both conditions are satisfied, a number of sequences are utilized to transfer containers to the case. The most common sequence is a case lift operating in conjunction with a side shifting grid or a pair of slide plates that open to drop containers through fingers into the case. A soft drop packer maintains the cases vertical position, bottles are dropped into a basket which then lowers to the case where the basket drops the containers into the case. For some more difficult applications an air transfer system can be used to transfer bottles to the basket.
COMMERICAL APPLICATION
Used Drop Case Packers are generally the simplest and most cost effective way to automatically pack cases with products. Production lines that utilize drop case packers must be designed to present bottles to the drop case packer at an elevated height. The height differential between the product head conveyor and the bottom case indexing system must be suitable to run a given container with its corresponding case. Drop case packers are used in a multitude of industries.
