HOW IT WORKS

Used Heat Shrink Tunnels are an enclosed and heated area that is used to not just apply heat to an object, but create a heated local environment around said object. Used Heat Shrink Tunnels will generally be found surrounding or above a section of conveyor belt. This allows automated travel throughout the tunnel.

Used Heat Shrink Tunnels work by transferring energy from a heat source to an object within an enclosed area. With this, multiple goals may be sought after, including to shrink film or label, to cure a coating of paint, removing any excess water or moisture, or any other application that requires an immersion in heat. Depending on the heat source used and capacity, the material being heated, and the time of residency in the tunnel, the amount of energy being transferred varies.

COMMERCIAL APPLICATION

Used Heat Shrink Tunnels may use hot air as a heat transfer medium. Used Heat Shrink Tunnels using hot air are typically double walled, with a solid exterior wall and a perforated interior wall. Between the walls, hot air is injected at an adequate pressure by either a hot air heater or a hot air blower. The volume and pressure of hot air combined with the pattern of perforations in the interior wall, allow for the manipulation of multiple heating zones. Used Heat Shrink Tunnels using hot air are a suitable choice for most applications.

Used Heat Shrink Tunnels most commonly used shrink materials are PVC, PETG, and PLA. PVC, PETG, and PLA materials shrink because, during manufacturing, they are stretched until their polymer chains are almost aligned; putting the materials in an unnatural state. Then having heat applied, these materials revert back to their natural state, resulting in their shrinking.
